SHOTGUN BLASTS HIT 2 TRACTOR-TRAILERS

At least two tractor-trailers in Southwest Virginia have been damaged by shotgun blasts since the national trucker strike started, a a state police spokesman reported Thursday.

A 1991 truck driven by a Russell Spring, Ky., man was struck by a shotgun blast in Smyth County about 2:44 a.m. Thursday on Interstate 81. Another driven by a Shelbyville, Tenn., man was hit by a shotgun in Washington County about 2:38 a.m.

Neither blast penetrated the windshield, and neither driver was hurt.

A Bristol driver had his windshield broken by rocks at 11:17 p.m. Wednesday in Washington County near Bristol, also on Interstate 81. - Associated Press
