BURTON TEAM SUED OVER SPONSORSHIP DEAL

A South Hill man who said he helped set up the Hardee's restaurant sponsorship of Ward Burton's NASCAR Grand National race team filed suit against the team claiming a breach of contract.

Alan G. Dillard and A.G. Motorsports Inc. also were named as defendants in the lawsuit filed in Circuit Court by H. Carl Gude Jr. Gude said he had an oral agreement with Dillard and Burton which entitled him to 10 percent of the proceeds of any sponsorship Gude helped the team obtain.

In early December, Hardee's signed a three-year agreement to sponsor the Chevrolet team driven by Burton of South Boston. Dillard paid Gude $3,500, which Gude said was partial payment for his services.

Young was survived by his wife, Tamara, and two sons, 6-year-old Clifford Jr. and 3-year-old Cameron.
