SLEMP-BENNETT

Vivian Pauline Bennett and Andrew Alfred Slemp, III were united in marriage at a candlelight ceremony on November 13, 1993 at seven o'clock at Cave Spring Baptist Church with Dr. Larry G. Dickens officiating.

The bride was escorted by her father. Julie Slemp, sister of the groom, served as the maid of honor. Teresa Bennett, sister-in-law of the bride, served as the matron of honor. The bridesmaids were Misty Hodge of Roanoke, Ghislaine Phillips of Radford and Angel Wilson of Roanoke, friends of the bride. The flowergirl was Holly Bennett, niece of the bride.

Dr. Andrew A. Slemp, Jr., father of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were James Bennett of Vinton, brother of the bride; David Bishop of Roanoke, friend of the groom; Robert Slemp of Roanoke, brother of the groom, and Jeff Stump of Bent Mountain, friend of the groom. The ringbearer was Chad Bennett, nephew of the bride.

Wedding music was presented by John Meyers, organist, Dr. Larry G. Dickens, soloist, and Carl R. Kiser, Jr., trumpeter. The guestbook was attended by Doris Snyder of Blue Ridge, friend of the bride. Photography was by Jim Markey and the wedding was directed by Yvonne Harrison. The bride wore a gown of white satin and Schiffli embroidery with a high wedding band collar accented with clusters of pearls. The bodice of satin was adorned with hand beaded Schiffle embroidered medallions; and long Victorian sleeves of net were accented with pearls and Alencon lace. A full satin skirt trimmed with hand beaded Schiffli lace flowed into the cathedral train featuring pearl-edged lace cut-outs accented with strings of pearls and small candy-box bows. She carried a fragrant cascade of white roses, white freesia, white stephanotis and white mini carnations.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Bennett of Salem. She is a graduate of William Fleming High School and Wythe County Community College where she received an Associate Degree in Nursing. She is a registered nurse in the Post Anesthesia Care Department at Lewis-Gale Hospital.

The groom is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Andrew A. Slemp, Jr. of Roanoke. He is a graduate of Cave Spring High School and Community Hospital College of Health Sciences. He is an Air Medical Specialist-Paramedic for Life Guard of America, Inc.

The reception was held at the Radisson-Patrick Henry Hotel. The couple will make their home in Goodview after a wedding trip to St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
