FRANKLIN COUNTY MAN CHARGED WITH ARSON

A Franklin county man was charged with arson and two counts of attempting to maliciously wound after his ex-wife's trailer was set on fire and gunshots were fired during an argument.

The Franklin County Sheriff's Office said David Ratcliffe, 41, went to Brenda Bowles' trailer in the Grassy Hill area near Rocky Mount to visit their 3-year-old daughter on Friday afternoon. Police said shots were fired at the television, and then at Bowles.

Deputies said a cousin tried to stop the trailer from being set on fire. The man, Pete Altice, was hit in the face with glass broken by a gunshot.
