OBIT POINDEXTER, LILLIAN STAPLES

POINDEXTER, Lillian Staples, 95, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, November 12, 1993. She had been seriously ill since May of 1993. She was born in Troutville, Va. and preceded in death by her husband, Henry Nelson Poindexter 63 years ago. Also preceding her in death were her parents, Wesley and Eliza Staples of Troutville, two brothers and seven sisters. She worked until she was 86 years old, enjoying good health until a few months ago. She is survived by three sons and three daughters-in-law, Garland and Nannie Poindexter of Petersburg, Va., Vernon and Ollie Poindexter of Suitland, Md., Montell and Elizabeth Poindexter of Louisville, Ky.; one daughter, the Rev. Pauline Haskins of Roanoke; 20 grandchildren; 50 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
