COMPUTER USERS CAN HELP SEARCH FOR MISSING KIDS

The nation's major computer on-line services are planning to distribute photos and information about missing children to millions of users.

Participants will include Prodigy, CompuServe, America Online, NetCom, GEnie and ZiffNet Information Services, according to officials of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, based in Arlington.

The center also will distribute pictures and information on missing children via Internet, a worldwide network of computer users and bulletin boards.

"The benefits of using the electronic highway are enormous in that there are close to 20 million people on line today via the commercial services, the Internet and bulletin boards - and the coverage is international," said Ernie Allen, president of the center. - Associated Press
