VANDALS DAMAGE 27 CARS IN SALEM

Vandals damaged 27 cars in Salem on Friday and Saturday night, police said.

Sgt. Mike Fisher said the cars either had their tires slashed or windows broken or were sprayed with yellow paint.

"Somebody is going to owe a lot of money when they get caught," Fisher said. "You've got some cars that had all four tires slashed."

Police said the vandalism took place between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. throughout Salem, but the Karen Hills section was especially hard hit. They said they were following a few leads, but Monday had not identified a suspect.
