Grab your bicycle. Because over the last 11 days of November, the New River Valley Bicycle Club has six rides scheduled.
Saturday at 1 p.m. is the Tour de Wolf Creek. A flat 40 miles from Wolf Creek Park in Narrows to Rocky Gap. The ride leader is DOW SCOTT (552-4607).
Nov. 26 at noon it the Traditional Turkey Trot. A 60-mile loop from the Virginia Tech Memorial Chapel in Blacksburg to Catawba through Bradshaw Valley. The ride leader is TIM MYERS (951-5285).
Nov. 27 at 1 p.m. is the Climb the Wall. A 25-mile steep ride from the Tech Chapel out of Blacksburg via Harding Avenue. The ride leader is PAUL SMITH (951-7825).
Nov. 29 in the evening will be the Nocturnal Riders Club ride. If there is enough interest, Tim Myers will lead the night time ride.
And on Sunday and on Nov. 28 there are Social Rides. They leave from the Tech Chapel at 2 p.m. These rides are at an easy pace and stress visiting with your fellow rider. Often the group gets together for a meal afterwards.
Safety is stressed on all rides. Helmets are required, as are lights for night rides. And any rider under 18 must have a waiver signed be their parent and be accompanied by a responsible adult.
In other bicycle club news:
Dow Scott is interested in running training rides on early Sunday afternoons if there is enough interest.
The club's monthly meeting will be Nov. 30 at 7 p.m. in the community room of the Blacksburg Branch Library.
