\ THE EPISCOPAL CHURCH OF THE HOLY SPIRIT has completed a fund-raising campaign for a church building at 4850 Grandin Road Extension S.W. Construction is expected to begin early next year. The proposed church will seat 450 and will be near the Virginia 419 intersection in the Oak Grove area.
The congregation, which follows an evangelical style of worship, was formed six years ago. Under the leadership of\ the Rev. Quigg Lawrence Jr., it has worshiped at several places, the most recently at North Cross School.
\ CARING EVANGELISM, a workshop by a staff member of Stephen Ministries congregational development agency, is scheduled for Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church, 707 Washington Ave., Vinton. The workshop is for Christians of all faiths who want to learn more effective ways to present their reason for taking Jesus seriously in their lives. The leader, \ Michael Currier, has been a consultant and trainer for the past five years. The workshop, "Grow Your Faith, Grow Your Church," is one of several programs Stephen Ministries of St. Louis, Mo., offers by contract with congregations. The introductory workshop Sunday costs $45 per person.
\ "EXCELLING AS A WOMAN OF GOD" will be the theme of a prayer breakfast Saturday at 9 at the Brown Derby Pancake House.
