RELIGION BRIEFS

THE REV. DAN BARNUM-STEGGERDA will be installed as pastor of Daleville Church of the Brethren on Nov. 28 at the 11 a.m. service. New members also will be welcomed at that time with a reception. Barnum-Steggerda has come from a Virginia Beach church.

\ THE L.B. FLORENCE ENSEMBLE of Summerfield, N.C., will present a concert at Jerusalem Baptist Church Sunday at 3:30 p.m. to benefit the Usher Board 2. The church is at 1014 Norfolk Ave. S.W.

\ NORTH VALLEY SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISTS, who worship at St. Paul Lutheran Church at 4909 Peters Creek Road N.W., will hear Elder Len McMillan of Washington at the 11 a.m. service Saturday. McMillan is family life coordinator for the Potomac Conference of the SDA. A luncheon and seminar will follow the service.

\ WILLIE PURDEE has begun his work as minister of youth at Edgewood Christian Church. Purdee, who is married, is a former resident of Raleigh, N.C., and a recent graduate of Kentucky Christian College.

\ GREEN RIDGE BAPTIST CHURCH, 5521 Green Ridge Road, has scheduled revival services Sunday through Wednesday with services nightly at 7. Guest leaders will be Mike and Fay Speck of Owosso, Okla., and Jeannie Cameron of Boone, N.C. The evangelists also will lead the 11 a.m. service Sunday.

The Specks travel nationally and have been evangelists for 12 years.

\ EVELYN CONNER, a Salem gospel singer, will present a program Sunday at 7 p.m. at Bonsack Baptist Church, 4845 Cloverdale Road.

\ A GOSPEL CONCERT by the St. James Mass Choir of Washington will take place Saturday night at 6 at Greater Mount Zion Baptist Church, 1810 Grayson Ave. N.W. The guest singers, directed by Carlos Younger, are being sponsored by the M.T. Coker Choir.

\ THE MALE CHORUS of Ebenezer African Methodist Episcopal Church, 1563 Lafayette Blvd. N.W., has scheduled musical programs Saturday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m. at the church to mark its 11th anniversary. Several guest choirs will sing at the night program. On Sunday, the Harmonizing Crescendo of Salem will be heard.

The congregation, which follows an evangelical style of worship, was formed six years ago. Under the leadership of the Rev. Quigg Lawrence Jr., it has worshiped at several places, the most recently at North Cross School.

\ CARING EVANGELISM, a workshop by a staff member of Stephen Ministries congregational development agency, is scheduled for Sunday from 1 to 9 p.m. at Thrasher Memorial United Methodist Church, 707 Washington Ave., Vinton. The workshop is for Christians of all faiths who want to learn more effective ways to present their reason for taking Jesus seriously in their lives. The leader, \ Michael Currier, has been a consultant and trainer for the past five years. The workshop, "Grow Your Faith, Grow Your Church," is one of several programs Stephen Ministries of St. Louis, Mo., offers by contract with congregations. The introductory workshop Sunday costs $45 per person.

\ "EXCELLING AS A WOMAN OF GOD" will be the theme of a prayer breakfast Saturday at 9 at the Brown Derby Pancake House. The program for women will be led by Delores Brown and Gail Thompson of the sponsoring Victory Christian Center. Buffet breakfast is available for $4. Call 343-3221 for more information.
