OBIT OSBORNE, TROY WOODROW

OSBORNE, Troy Woodrow, 81, of Independence, passed away Thursday, November 18, 1993 at Twin County Community Hospital, Galax, Va. He was born May 31, 1912 in Independence, Va., to Preston and Ruth Osborne. He was a retired employee of Grayson County Dept. of Highways, with thirty-nine years of service, serving many years as Superintendent. He was a member of Bridle Creek United Methodist Church and Piney Creek Masonic Lodge, A.F. & A.M., Piney Creek, N.C. Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Halsey Osborne, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Carol Lynne and Charles Shotton, Suffolk; son and daughter-in-law, James and Anne Bailey Osborne, Roanoke; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Cindy and Mark Garner, Suffolk; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Charles and Linda Shotton, Houston, Texas; sister, Ethel Ruth Carson, Galax; two brothers, Mastin F. Osborne, Preston Osborne Jr., both of Independence. Funeral service will be conducted Saturday, November 20, 1993, at 2 p.m. in Bridle Creek United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Bridle Creek Cemetery. The body will remain at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends Friday night from 7 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Independence Rescue Squad, P.
