CHURCHES ANNOUNCE SPECIAL THANKSGIVING EVENTS

Several churches have announced Thanksgiving services or events:

It's Country Day Sunday at Pilot Pentecostal Holiness Church, 4491 Old Pike Road, starting at 9:45 a.m. with Sunday school. Morning worship at 11 will feature gospel music by Dale Buckner and the Southern Sounds.

A Thanksgiving meal follows the morning worship. Family share night begins at 6 p.m., when church members get a chance to share their talents with the congregation.

The Appalkids perform Monday following the annual Thanksgiving covered-dish dinner at 6 p.m. at in the fellowship hall, Morgans Chapel United Methodist Church, New River Road in New River.

Three original Appalkids were Morgans Chapel members, and the Appalachian folk tale and music group has performed at the church's annual Thanksgiving supper for eight years.

Pulaski's ecumenical Thanksgiving service is set for Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, 301 N. Jefferson Ave.

The Rev. Stephen Weston of Christ Episcopal Church will preach at the 7:30 p.m. event. Call 980-3331.

Christ Episcopal Church, 144 N. Washington Ave., Pulaski, holds a service of Holy Eucharist Wednesday evening at 7.

Grace Episcopal Church, Fourth and Harvey streets, Radford, holds a Thanksgiving service Wednesday, 7:30 p.m.

The Christiansburg Ministerial Association's community Thanksgiving service is Wednesday, 7:30 p.m., at Christiansburg Presbyterian Church, 107 W. Main St. The Chancel Choir and Chancel Ringers will provide music, and the Rev. Lorenzo Hill of Asbury United Methodist Church will speak.

The Floyd Parish United Methodist Charge hold a Thanksgiving service Wednesday, 7:30 p.m., at Huffville United Methodist Church. The Sacrament of the Lord's Supper will be celebrated.

The Christian Science Society, 709 Palmer Drive, Blacksburg, holds a community Thanksgiving service Thursday at 11 a.m. The theme will be taken from Psalms: "It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord."

\ VICTORY TEMPLE Pentecostal Church of God, 1020 Cambria St., Christiansburg, is holding a revival through Sunday with Randy Woolwine. Services 7:30 nightly.

\ THE REV. KEN BOETTCHER is the new minister of youth at Dublin Baptist Church, Virginia 100 and Hawkins Street in Dublin. Boettcher has taught more than 15 years and has spent 10 years in youth ministry. He's also been a substitute teacher in the Radford and Montgomery County schools.

\ RICHARD COPELAND has been called to be minister of music at Dublin Baptist. A music major at Virginia Tech, he's currently director of the Baptist Student Union Choir at Tech and has served in music ministries at Derbyshire Baptist Church in Richmond and Blacksburg Baptist Church.

\ CHURCH BAZAARS AND SALES:

The Young at Heart, the senior citizen ministry of West Radford Church of God, sponsors a Christmas Bazaar today, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
