MOTIONS TO BE FILED IN MAN'S SENTENCE

Defense lawyers for a 32-year-old Wythe County man convicted of first-degree murder in the death of a cousin are scheduled to file motions in circuit court Monday regarding the life sentence brought back by the jury.

Leonard Dean Gravely was convicted Wednesday in the April 29 stabbing death of 21-year-old Christopher Lee Akers. Gravely told authorities the stabbing occurred accidentally when he and Akers were fighting in a mobile home they shared with Heather Chandler, Akers' girlfriend.
