VEHICLE RUNS OFF PARKWAY, KILLING MARTINSVILLE WOMAN

A Martinsville woman was killed and her husband was injured Friday night when their vehicle veered off the Blue Ridge Parkway and struck a tree.

Helen M. Clark, 62, was pronounced dead at R.J. Reynolds Hospital in Stuart. John R. Clark, 76, was taken to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition Saturday.

According to National Park Service Ranger Tom Sallese, conditions were foggy when the accident occurred near the Morrisette Winery in Floyd County. The Clarks apparently own a home in the area, he said.
