OBIT RHODES, GEORGE A.
RHODES, George A., 67, of Buena Vista, died Friday, November 19, 1993, at
the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville after a long
illness. He had been a resident of Heritage Hall Nursing Home, Lexington. He
was born May 19, 1926 in Rockbridge County, the son of the late Lloyd E. and
Jessie Emily Woods Rhodes. He was retired from Publix Super Market in
Lakeland, Fla. He was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the Merchant
Marines and the United States Army. He was a member of the Glasgow Masonic
Lodge #233 and the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by his wife Mary
Henson Coleman Rhodes. He is survived by two daughters, Sharon Proctor of
Jacksonville, Fla. and Karin Fly of Lakeland, Fla.; one son, Leo Coleman of
Buena Vista; one sister, Ann Walace of Buchanan; nine grandchildren. A funeral
service will be at 2 p.m. Monday, November 22, 1993, at the Lomax Funeral Home
Chapel with the Rev. David Bain officiating. Burial will follow in Rockbridge
Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at
the Lomax Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the American Kidney
Foundation or to the Altzheimer's Disease Foundation.
