CAR STRIKES TREE, KILLING 32-YEAR-OLD

A car driven by Jimmy Allen Layman, 32, crossed the left lane in a curve, went off the road and struck a tree head-on, state police said.

The accident happened about 3 a.m. on U.S. 221 just sought of Virginia 642. Layman was pronounced dead at the scene.
