OBIT WEDDLE, ROY WAITMAN
WEDDLE, Roy Waitman, 93, of Willis, passed away Friday, November 19, 1993,
at Radford Community Hospital. He was a member of Buffalo Mountain
Presbyterian Church where he served as Sunday School Teacher, song leader,
Elder and Presbytery delegate. He was a member of the Floyd County Retired
Senior Volunteer Program where he served as Choir Director and won several
Senior Olympic awards. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, George
Bennett. Survivors include his wife, Lyda McPeak Weddle of Willis; four sons
and daughters-in-law, Phillip and Betty Weddle of Willis, Jimmy and Sadie
Weddle, Lincoln and Jane Weddle, all of Roanoke and Corvin and Angie Weddle of
Rocky Mount; three daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Russell Poore of Fancy
Gap, Katie Bennett of Rocky Mount and Glenda and Roger Vest of Salem; one
brother, Lonnie Weddle of Woodlawn; two sisters, Bessie Pugh and Verna
Wilford, both of Bedford; 18 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. Funeral
services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the Buffalo Mountain Presbyterian Church
with the Rev. Gary Marshall and the Rev. Bryan Childress officiating. Burial
will be in Hillcrest Cemetery near the home. The family will receive friends
from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Maberry Funeral Home, Floyd.
