OBIT SHIFFLETT, JOSEPH WASHINGTON
SHIFFLETT, Joseph Washington, 73, of Buena Vista, died Sunday, November 21,
1993, in Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford County on April 7,
1920, the son of the late George Washington and Verbie Dale Parker Shifflett.
He was a World War II Navy Veteran and was retired from Georgia Bonded Fibers.
He is survived by three daughters, Wanda Woodward of Buena Vista, Jean Arey of
Natural Bridge and Julia Clark of Roanoke; three sons, Joey Shifflett of
Apopka, Fla., David Shifflett of Brownsburg and Jeffrey Shifflett of
Lexington; one sister, Laura Shifflett Hamilton of Flint, Mich.; 16
grandchildren; one great-grandchild. A graveside service will be at 3 p.m.
Tuesday at Green Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Marc Sherrod officiating. Lomax
Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
