HIGHWAY PROJECTS PLANNED IN AREA

Several highway projects in the area may slow down traffic. The Virginia Department of Transportation reminds motorists when passing through a work zone that drivers should use caution and slow down. Motorists caught speeding face up to a $250 fine. Work projects in this area include:

\ Montgomery County: Interstate 81 paving in the far right southbound lane between mileposts 125 and 126 will be paved today. Shoulder work on Virginia 8 continues from Virginia 670 to the Floyd County line. Shoulder work on U.S. 460 westbound near the Giles County line will continue through the end of the month.

\ Pulaski County: The road surfaces in front of and after bridges, called bridge approaches, are being repaved in the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 from the Montgomery County line to the Wythe County line. Work will continue through the end of the month.
