OBIT MCCORMICK, ROY STEELE SR.

McCORMICK, Roy Steele Sr., 77, of Lexington, died Saturday, November 20, 1993, at his residence. Mr. McCormick was born on May 30, 1916, in Rockbridge Co., a son of the late Cyrus Steele McCormick and Mary Thacker McCormick. He was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and was a volunteer at the Shenandoah Valley Health Care Center in Buena Vista. He was preceded in death by two sons, Vicky S. McCormick and Bobby McCormick. Mr. McCormick is survived by four daughters, Louise Montgomery, Buena Vista, Mary Jane Albury, Marietta, Ga., Jo Ann McDaniel, Buena Vista, Peggy Darlene Staton, Lexington; three sons, Roy S. McCormick Jr., Lexington, Wayne L. McCormick, Lexington, Gary B. McCormick, Lexington; two brothers, Roger McCormick, Lexington, Cyrus McCormick, Lexington; four sisters, Vivian Adcock, Lexington, Lula Harris, Buena Vista, Virginia Fox, Fairfield, Alphadene Thrift, Richmond; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, November 24, 1993, at 2 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Chapel with Rev. Greg Martin officiating with burial to follow in the Rockbridge Memorial Gardens, Lexington. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
