FOREST MAN DISCOVERED DEAD AFTER FIRE GUTS HOME

The body of a 48-year-old man was found in the rubble of his home after it was gutted by fire Saturday.

According to the Bedford County Sheriff's Department, Charles Henry Polk Sr. died in the fire, which started in the front part of the house near a tin wood stove. The stove had no chimney, police said.

Sheriff's deputies were called to the scene at 6:28 p.m. by the Forest Fire Department.

Polk's body - which was found in the rear section of his home - has been sent to a medical examiner for an autopsy to determine the cause of death, police said.
