ETC. UVA, RADFORD STARS SOCCER AWARD FINALISTS

Claudio Reyna of Virginia and Sue Williams of Radford are among the finalists for the 1993 Herman Trophy, which honors the top players in college soccer.

Finalists were chosen after a nationwide nominating process involving college coaches and the news media.

Other male finalists include Jimmy Glenn of Clemson and Jason Kreis of Duke. Female finalists include 1992 winner Mia Hamm of North Carolina and her teammates, Zola Springer and Tisha Venturi, and Catherine Zobrowski of North Carolina State.

The winner of the 1993 Herman Trophy will be announced in January.

Two Roanoke College coaches have been honored for their efforts this season.

Soccer coach and athletic director Scott Allison was named NSCAA/Umbro South Region Coach of the Year. Allison, who earlier was chosen top coach in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, led the Maroons to a 20-4 record, the ODAC championship and the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Finn Pincus, men's and women's cross country coach, was selected ODAC Coach of the Year. Pincus led the programs to top 15 finishes in the South/Southeast Regionals.

The starting time for Virginia's women's basketball game against Robert Morris on Nov. 28 has been changed from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. The change was made to accommodate fans who might also attend a men's NCAA Tournament soccer match at 1 p.m.
