EX-STATE SEN. COLEMAN YEATTS DIES

Former state Sen. Coleman Yeatts of Chatham died Monday while talking to a client in his law office. He was 85.

Yeatts, a Democrat, served in the Virginia Senate from 1972 until 1980 and had been a state delegate from 1936 to 1940. He was a senior partner in the law firm of Yeatts, Overbey and Ramsey and was still practicing law daily.

Yeatts was educated at Bluefield College and the College of William and Mary. He graduated from the University of Virginia Law School.
