OBIT WILMORE, ROBERT O'NEAL SR.
WILMORE, Robert O'Neal Sr., ("Foots"), 89, of Roanoke, died Sunday,
November 21, 1993, at the Brian Center in Fincastle. He was born in Marion to
the late Thomas Jefferson Wilmore and Sarah Lucinda Quillen. He moved to
Roanoke as a young man. He retired from Sealtest Foods at age 65 after 25
years of service. He was instrumental in getting the milk plant, now
Shenandoah Pride, opened in Roanoke. He was a charter member of the Roanoke
Optimist Club, Vice-President of the Dairy Council, and on the Board of
Directors of Colonial American National Bank. He was preceded in death by two
children, Betty Jean Wilmore, who died as an infant and Robert O'Neal
("Bobby") Wilmore Jr., who died in 1972. He is survived by his wife of 68
years, Mary McClure Wilmore; a daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Sherman
Zimmerman of Fincastle; a grandson, Hunter Lewis Wimmer of Fincastle; a
granddaughter and her husband, Kathy and Glenn Almquist of Gulfport, Fla.; a
grandson, Robert Miles Wilmore of St. Augustine, Fla. Funeral services will be
conducted at the graveside, Evergreen Burial Park, 11 a.m. Wednesday, November
24, 1993, with Dr. Gregory L. Adkins and the Rev. Robert A. Sadler
officiating. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel, where the family will
receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
