OBIT JENKINS, GRADY JEFFERSON

JENKINS, Grady Jefferson, 77, of Lexington, Va., died Tuesday, November 23, 1993, at his residence. Mr. Jenkins was born in Muscogee Co., Ga., on September 10, 1916, a son of the late John Lewis Jenkins and Sarah Augusta Greer Jenkins. He was a member of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church, Lexington, a member of the Mountain City Lodge #67 A.F. & A.M., the Khedive Shrine Temple Scottish Rite Bodies, the Kerrs Creek Ruritan Club, and was retired after 32 years of service from the Naval Ammunition Depot in Portsmouth, Va. Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by one son, Claude Thomas Jenkins (Vietnam, 1969), a grandson, Steven William Jenkins; three brothers and one sister. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Minnie Belle Cofield Jenkins, Lexington; a son and daughter-in-law, William G. and Zora Jenkins, Lexington; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy Bozeman, Fort St. Lucie, Fla.; a sister, Sarah Wilson, Atlanta, Ga.; a brother, Roy R. Jenkins, Atlanta, Ga.; two grandsons, Brian T. Jenkins, Lexington, Charles Grady Bozeman, Ft. Myers, Va. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 26, 1993, at 11 a.m. at the Harrison Funeral Chapel, with Dr. Thomas G. Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in the Stonewall Jackson Cemetery, Lexington. Graveside rites will be conducted by the Mountain City Lodge #67 A.F. & A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Organ Fund of the Manly Memorial Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Thursday night from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Harrison Funeral Home, Lexington.
