REPORTED EARNINGS

S&K Famous Brands Inc., a retailer of value-priced menswear, Tuesday reported record third-quarter net income of $611,000, or 13 cents per share, compared with $501,000, or 11 cents per share in the 1992 quarter. Sales were a record $23.2 million, up 22 percent from $18.99 million. Comparable-store sales rose 5 percent.

For the nine months, S&K earned $2.1 million, or 44 cents per share, up 23 percent from $1.7 million, or 36 cents per share, in the year-ago period. Sales rose16 percent, to $65.3 million from $56.5 million.

Lechters Inc.

Lechters Inc., a Harrison, N.J., housewares retailer with a store in Roanoke, on Tuesday reported net income for the 39 weeks ended Oct. 30 of $2.2 million, down 43 percent from $3.9 million in the 1992 period. Net income per share was 13 cents, compared with 23 cents. Sales increased 19 percent to $216.5 million from $181.9 million.

For the 13-week period ended Oct. 30, net income fell 40 percent to $1.6 million, or 10 cents per share, compared with $2.7 million, or 16 cents per share, a year earlier. Sales were $80.7 million, compared with year-earlier $69.4 million.
