W&L MEN TRIP EMORY; WOMEN DEFEATED 77-37

Derek Carter led a balanced attack with 18 points and 15 rebounds as Washington and Lee built a halftime lead and held on for a 69-54 victory over Emory on Tuesday night in Atlanta.

Robert Miggins had 15 points and 11 rebounds, Mark Connelly added 17 points and Jonathan Coffman 11 for Washington and Lee.

The Generals shot 57 percent in the first half in forging a 34-19 advantage. Emory, meanwhile, shot 28 percent and never recovered.

Bret Gray led Emory with 12 points and Wade Haaland added 10.

In the women's game, Emory overwhelmed the Generals in the second half for a 77-37 victory.

Mandy Jackson led the winners with 17 points and Lynn Nester added 12. Emory outscored Washington and Lee 42-17 in the second half to win going away.
