OBIT-GILMER, BETTY JORDAN

GILMER, Betty Jordan, 72, of Roanoke, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 1993, at Lewis-Gale Hospital. A Pulaski native and graduate of the University of Tennessee, she was the daughter of Oscar P. and Louise G. Jordan of Pulaski. She was a retired teacher with Roanoke City Schools and an active member of Raleigh Court United Methodist Church. Surviving are her mother, Louise Jordan now residing in South Boston, Va.; her sister, Helen Miller also of South Boston; one son, Perry J. Gilmer of Va. Beach; a daughter, Ann Richardson of Roanoke; four grandchildren, Thad Gilmer and Drew Gilmer, Va. Beach, John Richardson and Blair Richardson of Roanoke. A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday, from Raleigh Court United Methodist Church with Rev. James W. Reynolds officiating. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to The Salvation Army (724 Dale Ave., S.E., Roanoke, Va. 24002) or The Roanoke Valley SPCA (P.O. Box 11863, Roanoke, Va. 24022). Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Oakey's South Chapel.
