Drewry is a 1991 graduate of William Byrd High School.
\ MARINE PFC. SHAWN A. BOWMAN, son of Carol F. Gunter of 310 Timberline Trail in Vinton, recently completed basic training at Parris Island, S.C., and was promoted to his present rank.
\ NAVY LT. SEAN J. DOOLEY, whose wife, Kristi, is the daughter of D. Wayne and Patricia Goodman of Salem, is in the Adriatic Sea aboard the USS America in support of United Nations Operation Sharp Guard. Dooley is a 1989 graduate of Virginia Military Institute.
\ AIR FORCE SENIOR AIRMAN JOHN W. PRILLAMAN, son of Maurice R. and Joyce P. Prillaman of 6405 Rose Lawn Road, has arrived for duty at Osan Air Base in Songton, South Korea. Prillaman is a fire protection specialist.
\ MARINE CPL. WINSTON G. THURMAN, son of Robert W. Thurman of 1112 Tipton Ave., has been deployed to Somalia as part of the USS Guadalcanal Amphibious Ready Group. He is a 1990 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
\ AIRMAN 1ST CLASS LAURA L. THOMPSON, daughter of Lynn M. Thompson of 859 Dexter Road and James M. Thompson Jr. of 3392 Morning Dove Road, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.
\ LANCE CPL. MICHAEL S. BROGAN, son of Carol T. Brogan of 129 Fleming Ave., recently received a Meritorious Mast for outstanding service while assigned at Marine Corps Air Station in New River N.C.
Brogan is a 1986 graduate of William Fleming High School.
\ SEAMAN RECRUIT PAUL H. STEWART, whose wife, Miranda, is the daughter of Hugh D. and Mary M. Key of 5355 Black Bear Lane, recently completed Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 1ST CLASS RICKEY H. BRATTON, son George H. and Betty S. Bratton of 4332 Oliver Rd. N.E., is in Corfu, Greece, aboard the USS America. He is 1975 graduate of the former Andrew Lewis High School in Salem.
\ NAVY SEAMAN RECRUIT MICHAEL A. MILLER, son of Johnny R. and Ruth Ann Miller of 3530 Yellow Mountain Road, is in Corfu, Greece, aboard the USS America. He is a 1991 graduate of Patrick Henry High School.
\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 2ND CLASS DAVID I. HUNTER, a 1979 graduate of Patrick Henry High School, is in Corfu, Greece, aboard the USS America.
\ MASTER SGT. JOSEPH M. CONNER, son of Joseph N. and Nancy D. Conner of 5737 Thornrose Road, has been promoted to his present rank while serving at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Fla.
\ SEAMAN PAUL S. PAIGE , a 1992 graduate of William Fleming High School, has completed basic training at the Navy Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Ill.
\ NAVY PETTY OFFICER 3RD CLASS JEFFREY CONNER of Navy Mobile Construction Battalion Seven participated in a technical assistance operation to Haiti.
