ROOMMATE CHARGED IN POSSIBLE SUFFOCATION

A 32-year-old Roanoke woman has died, possibly of suffocation, and her roommate was charged with murder Friday.

Roanoke police said it appeared that a pillow was held over the face of Teresa Darnell Tucker.

Albert Eugene Brown, 42, who shared an apartment with Tucker at the Indian Village housing complex in Southeast Roanoke, was charged with murder in connection with her death.

Brown came to the Police Department shortly after noon and told police that he had killed Tucker, police said.

Police were still trying to determine a motive for the slaying Friday afternoon. They said it apparently stemmed from a domestic dispute.

Brown reportedly made several statements, but police declined to comment on what he said.

Police said Tucker died either Thursday or Friday, but the department was waiting for results of an autopsy before commenting on exactly how long she had been dead.
