100-YEAR-OLD HOME DESTROYED IN BLAZE

An Ironto home - which formerly was a Methodist church - burned to the ground Friday night.

Elliston Fire Chief Malvin Wells said Elliston, Riner and Christiansburg firefighters responded to the scene at 5:47 p.m. The single-family dwelling, at 3316 Ironto Road, was destroyed by the blaze, Wells said.

The house is owned by Eldred and Wanda Hall of Ironto, according to Wells.

No one was injured in the fire.

Wells said fire officials suspect the fire started near the chimney, but an investigation is continuing.

Wells said the structure is more than 100 years old.
