OBIT FULP, OTEY MCLAIN
FULP, Otey McLain, 72, of Roanoke County, died suddenly Thursday, November
25, 1993, while vacationing on the steam boat Mississippi Queen in St.
Francesville, La. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a
graduate of Roanoke College Class of 1950. Otey was a member and elder in the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Roanoke Second Ward), a member of
U.C.T. Council #174, and a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #952 in
Danville. He was a retired postal clerk from the U.S. Postal Service. He was
preceded in death by his parents, John and Mamie Fulp, and is survived by his
wife of 35 years, Mabel Ferguson Fulp; two brothers, Edward L. Fulp,
Troutville, C. Larry Fulp, Roanoke; two sisters, Lois F. Cecil, Peggy F.
Clark, both of Roanoke; a devoted sister-in-law and her husband, Faye and Fred
Quam, and their sons, Freddie and Jason Quam, Roanoke County; also several
nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at Oakey's South Chapel
Monday, November 29, at 1 p.m. with Bishop Al Cooper and Bishop Roger Bohon
officiating. Interment will be in Sherwood Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers,
the family suggests memorials to Patrick Henry Boy's and Girl's Plantation,
Rt. 2, Box 125, Brookneal, Va. 24528 in his memory. The family will receive
friends Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 9 p.m. at
Oakey's South Chapel.
