Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Lawson Butler are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Beth Ann, to Michael Patrick Gerard Ryan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gerard Ryan of Chevy Chase, Maryland.

Miss Butler received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William and Mary. She is employed by the law firm of Hale and Dorr in Washington, D.C. Mr. Ryan received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of William and Mary and a Master of Letters from Oxford University. He is employed by Business Development Associates of Washington, D.C.

A spring wedding is planned.
