Margaret Barrett Irby and Eric Gordon Peters, Jr., were married November 27, 1993, in Crenshaw United Methodist Church in Blackstone, Va. Rev. John Wynn Myers, grandfather of the groom, and Pastor Emeritus of Greene Memorial United Methodist Church, and Rev. Edward Johnson performed the ceremony. The reception was held at the Lunenburg Country Club. The matron of honor was Mrs. Anne Copley Burkitt, cousin of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Charlotte Wynn Peters and Miss Sarah Letitia Scott Peters, sisters of the groom, Mrs. Charlotte Hughes, Miss Alletta Lee, Miss Karen Armstrong, Miss Anne-Randolph Bolling, Miss Ann Brett Gillespie, all friends of the bride. The bride was given in marriage by her brother, Hunter Hurt Irby. The best man was Mr. Robert Manson Peters, brother of the groom. Ushers were Mr. John Blair Mitchell, cousin of the groom, Mr. Dante Mullen Monakil, Mr. Joseph Michael Teefey, Mr. Michael Allen Riddick, Mr. Carter Randolph Gravatt, Mr. James Thomas Butler, III, Mr. Larry David Wills, Mr. John Paul O'Mara, and Mr. William Henry Lipscomb, all friends of the groom. The guestbook was attended by Katie Cobbs, Lucy Currin, and Shannon Crowder. The bride's white silk full length gown with a train had a sweetheart neckline with a border of Venice lace, seed pearls, and sequins. She carried a bouquet of white roses and ivy. The bride is a daughter of Mrs. Jack Barrett Irby and the late Mr. Irby, of Blackstone. She is a graduate of the University of Virginia and is employed by the Dalkon Shield Claimants Trust. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Gordon Peters, of Lynchburg. He graduated from Randolph-Macon College and received his Masters from the University of Richmond. He is employed by the Kenston Forest School in Blackstone. After the wedding trip to an undisclosed destination, the newlyweds will live in Richmond.
