North Alabama (12-0), the top-ranked team in Division II, will play host to a semifinal game Dec. 4 against the winner of the Texas A&M-Kingsville vs. California-Davis game.
Hampton (12-1) saw its season come to an end for the second year in a row with a loss to the Lions. Last year, North Alabama beat the Pirates 33-21 in the first round.
North Alabama tied the school record for wins in a season, equalling the 1985 team which went 12-2 and lost in the Division II finals. If the Lions should make it back again, they will play the title game at home on Dec. 11.
The Lions dominated, controlling the ball for 41 minutes. North Alabama finished with 570 total yards, including 472 on the ground. Gross, the Lions quarterback, rushed 12 times for 122 yards and two touchdowns, including a 42-yarder. Satterfield had 116 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries; Rush added 101 yards and a touchdown on 15 carries.
The teams combined for five touchdowns in the first quarter, after which North Alabama led 21-14.
