OBIT MURPHY, STELLA BLANCHE FARMER

MURPHY, Stella Blanche Farmer, 90, of 906 Valley St., Pulaski, passed away early Sunday morning, November 28, 1993, at her home. Born November 19, 1903, in Carroll Co., Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Frederick Walter Farmer and Anna Mae Smith Farmer. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Edgar Murphy and a son, Robert Murphy. She was a member of the First Church of the Brethren of Pulaski. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Audrey Ellen Rakes, Bedford, Va., Mrs. William (Colene) Hawes, Lynchburg, Va., Mrs. Dorothy Ann Donithan, Pulaski, Va., Mrs. J. Allen (Connie) Thornton, Columbia, S.C.; four sons, J. Frank Murphy, Manassas Park, Va., Howard Rudolph Murphy, Vinton, Va., Thomas Ray Murphy, Roanoke, William Edgar (Bill) Murphy, Pulaski, Va; 24 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Dorothy Lee Witcher, High Point, N.C.; a brother, Kenneth Rudolph Farmer, Pulaski, Va. The funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, from the First Church of the Brethren, Pulaski. Interment will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery, Pulaski. Visitation will be any time after 2 p.m. Monday and the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday from the Bower Funeral Chapel, (1631 Bob White Blvd., Pulaski). Mrs. Murphy will be placed in the church by 1 p.m. Tuesday to lie in state until the hour of service. The family will be meeting at the home of 906 Valley St., Pulaski, where friends may call at anytime. Bower Funeral Chapel, Pulaski is handling arrangements.
