OBIT SLAUGHTER, PERRY JAMES

SLAUGHTER, Perry James, 65, of Pulaski, died Saturday, November 27, 1993. On Saturday, November 27, 1993, God in his omnipotent wisdom found favor in his faithful servant, Perry James Slaughter, and called him home from his labor to his heavenly reward. Elder Perry James Slaughter was born December 8, 1927, in Pulaski County to the late James Albert Slaughter and Juanita Stigger Slaughter. He was married to Ethel ("Peggy") Slaughter and to this union was born two sons and two daughters. Elder Slaughter served as Pastor of Jones Chapel United Holy Church in Freeman, W.Va. for 22 years and was Pastor of Pentecostal United Holy Church, Pulaski, for one year. He was the District Elder of the Pinnacle Subdistrict and Chairman of the Board of Elders of the W.Va. District. He served on the General Board of Elders of the United Holy Church of America and formerly served as Chairman of the Board of Presbytery and President of the Pinnacle Subdistrict. He was also a Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He leaves to mourn his loving wife, Ethel ("Peggy") Slaughter; his children, Perry Graylon and Theresa P. Slaughter of Pulaski, Peggy Elaine and Jack Choate of Sparta, N.C., Patricia Joyce Slaughter of Pulaski and Phillip C. Slaughter of Tulsa, Okla.; four grandchildren, Perry J. and Jacqueline L. Slaughter of Pulaski and Jason E. and Jack E. Choate of Sparta, N.C.; a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Bob White Church of God, Bob White Boulevard, Pulaski. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the United Holy Church, Johnson Street, Pulaski. Interment will be in Pinehurst Cemetery. Penn's Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
