SALEM ADULT CHARGED WITH INCITING VANDALS

A 24-year-old Salem man has been charged with encouraging four teen-agers to vandalize 27 cars in Salem last month.

Johnnie Wayne Davenport faces four counts of contributing to the delinquency of minors.

Davenport and the four teen-age boys, all Salem High School students ages 15 to 17, also face 10 counts of destruction of personal property.

Police allege that Davenport was driving the teen-agers around south Salem on Nov. 12 and 13 as they spray-painted cars, slit tires and smashed car windows.

Police estimated the damage at about $7,000.
