POST OFFICE TO GIVE EXTRA HOLIDAY SERVICE

The post office is extending hours and offering special and early collections in response to holiday mailing demands.

From Saturday through Christmas Eve, early collections will be made at 1:30 and 4 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with Sunday collections Dec. 12 and 19, only at collection boxes with collection times after 5 p.m.

Red collection boxes are being installed at each station and branch in Roanoke for mailing Christmas cards only.

Window hours will be extended Dec. 11 and Dec. 18 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Cave Spring branch, and the main post office will be open 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the same days.

The Postal Service also encourages patrons to mail Christmas cards early in the season and early in the day.
