JERRY GREEN has owned and operated the Roanoke Aquarius for 20 years.

BOB HALE, owner of Robert Hale Piano Service in Roanoke, was one of five piano technicians from the United States and Canada selected to attend a recent piano technology seminar at the Steinway Piano Factory, Long Island, N.Y.

The purpose of the seminar was to acquaint concert technicians with new procedures in preparing pianos on the concert stage.

\ JIM ASPELL of Virginia Truck Center Inc. in Roanoke was named southern region and national champion of the second annual Parts Counter Salesperson awards program sponsored by Mack Trucks Inc.

Aspell was recognized for demonstrating outstanding interpersonal skills, sales ability and parts knowledge.

The competition included 24 participants who were asked to field various customer requests under a typical sales situation.

\ JUDY GRIESENBROCK and THOMAS CURRY FISHER III recently completed the Community Economic Development Basic Course at the Virginia Institute for Economic Development.

Griesenbrock is executive vice president of the Salem/Roanoke County Chamber of Commerce, and Fisher is a planner for Total Action Against Poverty.

\ ROBERT THOMAS GORDON of Appalachian Power Co. in Roanoke has earned certification as a human resources professional from the Human Resource Certification Institute.

\ JOHN BROCK of Strauss Construction and BARNEY ROSALIA of Prestige Builders recently graduated from the National Association of Home Builders Institute.

Brock completed the Graduate Builders program, and Rosalia completed the Graduate Master Builder Designees series. Both are members of the Roanoke Regional Home Builders Association.

\ JAMES A. WARDLE of Salem has completed a five-day Modern Woodmen of America life insurance seminar in Rock Island, Ill. Wardle, a district representative for Modern Woodmen, was one of 23 life insurance representatives to attend the program.

\ CAROLINE TUCK, daughter of Kenneth and Sara Tuck of Roanoke, has received the John H. Armbruster Memorial Award for most outstanding Jaycee in Virginia for the first half of 1993. She is a member of the Alexandria Junior Chamber of Commerce.

\ THE ROANOKE REGIONAL HOME BUILDERS ASSOCIATION recently presented several awards for sales and marketing/merchandising achievement in the housing industry.

The Gold Hammer Award for selling six or more new homes was awarded to: Cheryl Ham, Nancy Martin, Tim Toohig and Sylvia Wilson, all of Boone and Co. Realtors; Betty Kirkland and Anita Mills, both of MKB Realtors.

The Silver Hammer Award for selling four or five new homes was awarded to: Elizabeth Cantley and Kelly McLaughlin, both of MKB; Beth Wilson and Tom Wilson, both of Owens and Co. Realtors; and Vivian Frank, Boone and Co.

The Bronze Hammer Award for selling one to three new homes was awarded to: Betty Anderson, Paula Bumgarner and Frances Witt, all of MKB; George Baron Jr., Boone and Co.; Viola Campbell, Campbell Realty; G.K. Kinsey, Owens and Co.; and Doris Smith, Barker Realty.

Boone, Boone and Loeb received the 1993 Marketing Excellence Award for the Courtyards at Hunting Hills Place. The award recognizes the best marketing effort for a community with 10 or more homes or lots.

The association also gave "Big Spike" awards to Darlene Bibb of Concrete Ready Mix and Lew Jamison of Heritage Home Builders Ltd. for recruiting new members and increasing member involvement.

\ CAROLE J. GRUBB, sales secretary at Lightweight Block, has received an engraved service pin for 20 years of service. She also represents the company in the Roanoke Homebuilders Association, Associated General Contractors, and several civic organizations.

Solite Corp., Lightweight's parent company, awards service pins for every five years of service.

\ DR. KAREN BOWEN DAHLE, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Jabbour of Roanoke, has been named director of Autism Services at Glenwood Mental Health Services, Inc. in Birmingham, Ala.

Dahle, a graduate of Roanoke Catholic, formerly taught students with learning disabilities in Roanoke County.
