The forum was sponsored by the Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce and Roanoke Area Tech Prep Consortium, in cooperation with the Botetourt, Franklin, and Salem-Roanoke County Chambers of Commerce.
The forum was held to give business, government and education leaders an opportunity to discuss changes needed to prepare the work force for the 21st century.
The businesses received Student Choice Awards, which recognize outstanding educational partnerships between businesses, civic organizations, and non-profit groups and local elementary, middle, and high schools.
The awards were presented by student representatives from participating schools.

Shenandoah Life Insurance Co., for a partnership with Hurt Park Elementary School; presented by Macklyn Mosely.
Carilion Health System, for a partnership with Cave Spring Junior High School, presented by Malia Miller.
General Electric Corp., for a partnership with Salem High School; presented by Shawn Nadeau.
