OBIT REED, ORD THURMAN
REED, Ord Thurman, 64, of Christiansburg, died Thursday, December 2, 1993,
in Radford Community Hospital. He was a retired dairy farmer, rural mail
carrier and school bus driver for 17 years. Surviving are his wife, Leona
Kirkner Reed; daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Ray Gardner, Riner, Melinda
Simpkins, Christiansburg, Kimberly and Gary Calbert, Lynchburg; sons and
daughters-in-law, Stephen and Rita Reed, Edward W. Reed all of Riner, Michael
and Tara Reed, Christiansburg; two sisters, Alice Leah, Salem, Inez Cybry,
Roanoke; two brothers, Harold W. Reed, Roanoke, Carl E. Reed, Grandview,
Missouri; seven very special grandchildren, Julie Gardner, Charlottesville,
Jared Gardner, Stephaine Reed, Gerald Reed all of Riner, Chris Simpkins,
Kellie Simpkins, Samantha Reed all of Christiansburg. Funeral services will be
11 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 1993, at the Christiansburg Church of the
Brethren conducted by Rev. Kenny Wurzburger and Mr. Larry Phillips with burial
in Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at
the Richardson-Horne Funeral Home.
