PESTICIDE SURVEY PLANNED

Virginia Cooperative Extension Service offices in the New River Valley are surveying how much banned, unusuable or unwanted pesticide is being stored on farms, agribusinesses, pest control firms and pesticide dealers.

The survey is the first step to establish a free cleanup program by the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The Pesticide Disposal Program recently removed nearly 68,000 pounds of unwanted pesticides from communities in eastern Virginia.

Those who have not received a survey form from the extension office, or who would like more information, should call:

Montgomery County, 382-5790

Pulaski County, 980-7761

Floyd County, 745-9307

Giles County, 921-3455

Information gathered in the survey will be confidential.
