WOMAN SHOOTS YOUNG DAUGHTER, THEN SELF IN SUFFOLK MURDER-SUICIDE

A Suffolk woman killed her 16-month-old daughter and then turned the gun on herself as a result of domestic problems with the child's father, Suffolk police investigators said.

Pamela Faulk, 24, died of a gunshot wound to the head shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, police said.

Her daughter, Kiersten Jey Willis, was shot once in the chest and pronounced dead on arrival just after 8 p.m. at Louise Obici Memorial Hospital, authorities said.

She had been experiencing problems with the child's father, Byron Willis of Memphis, Tenn., involving custody of the child, said Sgt. Mike Simpkins. A custody hearing was upcoming, he said.

Simpkins said the problem was "a relatively recent thing." Police had no other motive for the shooting.
