OBIT PAYNE, FLOSSIE PEARL BIRD

PAYNE, Flossie Pearl Bird, 80, of Roanoke, passed away Friday, December 3, 1993. She was a member of Belmont Christian Church. She was the widow of Otey P. Payne. Mrs. Payne was born at White Gate, Va. on September 1, 1913. She was formerly employed at the American Viscose Corp. Mrs. Payne was also preceded in death by her parents, David A. and Effie Sands Bird, two brothers, Ernest P. and Roy L. Bird and one sister, Mrs. Betty B. Rilling. She is survived by four sisters, Mrs. Willie B. Link, Mrs. Lorena B. Bauer, and Mrs. Virginia B. Brown, all of Roanoke, Mrs. Molly B. Brown, Chicago, Ill.; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Virginia S. Bird, Vinton. Also surviving are 15 nieces and nephews and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. A graveside service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 6, 1993 at Sherwood Memorial Park, with Dr. George K. Bowers officiating. The family will receive friends at Lotz Roanoke Chapel on Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
