SOCCER PLAYERS RECEIVE HONOR

Eight members of the Roanoke Star soccer program were selected to the Virginia Olympic Development team in their respective age groups Sunday.

Chris Andres of Roanoke, Vaden Hunt of Lynchburg, Ry Moore of Roanoke and Keith Mattson of Smith Mountain Lake made the 18-under boys team. Daniel Schemmel of Lynchburg made the 17-under boys team. Tait Duus and John Prillaman, each of Roanoke, made the 16-under boys team. Carrie Moore of Roanoke made the 17-under girls team.

Players representing regions of the state competed in a tournament Saturday and Sunday, after which one team in each age group was chosen. - Staff report
