OBIT BROWNING, ODELL GARFIELD

BROWNING, Odell Garfield, 69, of 606 Woodland Drive, Rich Creek, Va., died Saturday, December 4, 1993, at his home. A lifelong resident of Giles County, he was born at Godwins Ferry, Va. on May 24, 1924, and was the son of the late Walter Garfield and Mila Christmas Smith Browning. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce G. Browning in 1969. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Rich Creek, a member of the V.F.W. Post #6000 of Narrows, Va. and was a retired employee of the Hoechst/Celanese Fibers Company Plant in Narrows. He is survived by his wife, Violet Akers Browning of Rich Creek; and a son, Larry W. Browning, Roanoke, Va.; two brothers, Gene Duncan, Pembroke, Va. and Ed Duncan, Godwins Ferry, Va.; a sister, Mrs. Dexter Goad, Pembroke, Va. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Riffe's Funeral Chapel in Narrows with Rev. Alan Wilder officiating. Burial will follow in the Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Rich Creek with graveside rites conducted by the V.F.W. Post #6000 of Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Service in Narrows, Monday from 6 to 9 p.m.
