ROANOKE'S PARADE WON'T GET 2ND RUN

Roanoke will celebrate Christmas this year without a parade.

Organizers said Monday they are unable to reschedule the parade, which was washed out Saturday.

"Due to the heavy schedule of holiday events and the fact that some participants could not change their schedules, we are sorry to say we can't reschedule the parade," said Laban Johnson, special events coordinator for the city.

Organizers waited until 11:30 a.m. Saturday before deciding to call off the parade, which had been scheduled to start at 12:40 p.m.
