PATRIOTS BEAT GLASS 69-61

Shannon Taylor scored 17 points and sophomore center Phillip Taylor came off the bench to add 12 points and nine rebounds Tuesday night as Patrick Henry beat E.C. Glass 69-61 in boys' basketball.

The Patriots (2-1) trailed 21-12 after one quarter, but used a 19-4 second period to take control. Patrick Henry never trailed again.

The Patriots hit seven of nine free throws in the decisive second period.

Derrick Reid of E.C. Glass led all scorers with 22 points. \

Lynchburg Christian 52

Roanoke Valley Christian 21

LYNCHBURG - Shannon Carroll had 16 points and Summer Bennington added 14 as the Bulldogs swamped the Eagles.

Lynchburg Christian (1-0) led 26-6 at halftime and never was threatened. Tiffany Hogan led Roanoke Valley Christian (2-2) with 12 points. \

The Patriots cut a 20-point deficit to three points in the fourth quarter, but couldn't overtake the Hilltoppers.

Patrick Henry (0-2) missed 16 of 26 free throws. Elisha Jones led the Patriots with 13 points and Artrice Webb added 10.

E.C. Glass (2-0) got 13 points from Laura Rhoads and 11 from Sara Rhoads.

Stuart Hall 34

STAUNTON - Heather Perry's layup with two minutes remaining gave the Raiders the lead for good and they went on to victory in a Blue Ridge Conference game.

Emily Cook led North Cross (3-1) with 10 points and six rebounds, and Perry added eight points.

Stuart Hall led 28-27 after three quarters, behind Marian Matthews, who finished with 15 points.

The Knights used pressure defense to force 43 turnovers in a non-district rout of the Celtics.

Leah Daigle led visiting Cave Spring (3-0) with 19 points on 9-for-9 field-goal shooting, and Emily Rappold added 15 points.

Abby Dickson scored 10 points for Roanoke Catholic (2-2). \
