MANDELA, DE CLERK ACCEPT NOBEL PRIZE

Nelson Mandela accepted the Nobel Peace Prize with South African President Frederik W. de Klerk on Friday by inviting the world to celebrate the defeat of apartheid, "one of the outstanding human victories of our century."

"Five years ago people would have seriously questioned the sanity of anyone who would have predicted that Mr. Mandela and I would be joint recipients of the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize," de Klerk said. "And yet, both of us are here before you today."
